SOUTH BEACH PARTY GIRL GWEN COOPER TELLS ALL
![]()
I have not read this book yet, but I heard her on Jonny McGoverns podcast a couple weeks ago and it sounds like a great read!
TRAVEL GUIDES PROVIDE guidance and practical information, but once you arrive at your destination, you’ll need some engaging beach reads to help pass the time. Gwen Cooper’s "Diary of a South Beach Party Girl" promises all the ingredients of a breezy summer favorite, from its chick-lit title (and cover) to the tale of corruption, sex and rampant drug-use found within."Party Girl" is the story of Rachel Baum, a nice Jewish girl who moves from a small Miami suburb to the ultra-glamorous South Beach, Fla. Falling in with the town’s social elite, Rachel soon enters the requisite damaging relationship with a drug-addicted Harvard graduate and must weigh her priorities in a city that offers plenty of Bacchanalian opportunities.
Although the concept of South Beach hedonism is gay enough, Cooper also includes a gaggle of gay men to help Rachel through her troubles. As Candace Bushnell can attest, the holy trio of damaged women, gay men and buckets of drugs provide all the necessary ingredients for summer fun! And some sin!
