Borat, the alter ego of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, is preparing to tell the world his travel tips.
The fictional reporter from Kazakhstan, who toured the U.S. in the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazahkstan, has signed a book deal.
Baron Cohen has signed with Flying Dolphin Press, an imprint of Random House Inc.'s Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group, to write the hardcover book.
The book, titled both Borat: Touristic Guidings To Minor Nation of U.S. and A. and Borat: Touristic Guidings To Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan will be a guide to the United States for Kazakhstanis and a guide to Kazahkstan for Westerners.
Baron Cohen played Borat, a character he created for his HBO comedy show Da Ali G Show, as he traveled the United States and had encounters with ordinary Americans, many of whom did not know who he was.
Another character the comedian created for Da Ali G Show — Bruno, the gay Austrian fashion commentator — is about to get his own movie. Bruno has been spotted in Los Angeles, wearing a black T-shirt, black leather vest and pants.
Universal signed with Baron Cohen last fall to create a Bruno movie, paying $42.5 million US for the rights, which is currently in production now.
